Bonsai Intensives

Fee: $350 per two day intensive

Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm & Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm

Class Full

You say you want to learn more?  Here is your chance.  This is a two day event.  These classes are only open to students who have taken our beginner basics class or can demonstrate a basic understanding of the art.  Each class is an all day, intensive learning experience divided into two sessions (Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm & Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm)

Each class will build on the one before it.  Personalized instruction will be emphasized.  Each class is limited to 6 students only.  This event is a two day immersion in the art of bonsai which is focused on improving both your mechanical skills and your artistic eye.  Participants must be equipped with proper bonsai tools, wire and plant material for every class.

Sessions consist of hands on work (sometimes on your trees and sometimes on ours) plus demonstration, videos and lecture.  Lunch for both days and dinner on Saturday will be provided.
Topics will include but not limited to:

Advanced wiring – We will teach you more advanced wiring techniques such as using guy wires, raffia use, rebar and other wiring shortcuts and best practice

Advanced Styling – Got a tree that has lost a major branch or portions have died? We will look into all the creative ways that can be applied to keep your tree looking great including planting angle changes, heavy bending, and shortening the tree and other tricks.

Tree and Pot selection – We will focus on the aesthetics of pot selection to different types of trees

Stands and Display – We will dive into stands, scrolls and companion plants and how to select

Soil making – We will have in depth discussion of soil components and the advantages and disadvantages of each.  We will also actually make soil.  Regular, mame etc.

Pests and Fungi – We will go into depth on proactive prevention of pests and fungus control and what to do for active infestations

BYOT – We will have time during each session to work out problems and questions about your own trees and apply what we learn over the 2 day class
