Known in Japan as Kobu iri Hasami, these cutters are
designed for removing trunk knobs and roots. 
The head is shaped like a ball, hence the name ‘Spherical’.  They produce a hollow, circular cut that
heals quickly and with a minimum of scarring.

A larger version used to create a concave cut into the
trunk where a branch was.  This allows
the tree to heal and clause folds into the depression so that the trunk does
not have a raised area where the branch once emerged. This is also a great tool
to use during repotting when cutting large roots and trunk under soil line.
